High-Fidelity Wraparound: A story of hope

High-Fidelity Wraparound: A story of hope

H.O.P.E

hold on, pain ends

On Thursday, August 20, 2020, WIN Georgia and Lookout Mountain Community Services participated in a High Fidelity Wraparound meeting with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, View Point Health, Georgia State Center of Excellence, and a WIN Georgia parent.

The WIN Georgia parent shared a compelling story of raising children with special needs and making the hard decision to terminate parental rights for three of the children in order for them to receive the services they needed to thrive. She shared how the support, strength, and advocacy she received from her experiences with WIN Georgia has helped in the families’ journey to success.

This parent had all the members of this meeting on the edge of their seats; she inspired us and challenged us to make access to services and support readily available despite a person’s insurance coverage or involvement with child welfare.

Inspiration

comes in many forms

"When we help parents meet the needs of their children as well as their own needs, it reduces the amount of stress the parents feel. This, in turn, reduces the amount of stress the children feel because they are no longer feeding off the parents' negativity."

"When stress is reduced in the parents and children, it opens the lines of communication in positive ways such as family fun time together, positive conversations, laughter, and smiles."

"When the lines of community are open in positive ways, it strengthens relationships and these stronger relationships will continue to grow and strengthen, teaching children how to build strong relationships with their peers as they grow older."

"When we truly "wrap-around" the family, it benefits the entire family - especially the kids who see their parents getting the help they need - it strengthens relationships, reduces stress, and gives something that can't be bought... HOPE."
